This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use the EchoSphere mobile application ("App"), the EchoSphere administration portal, and any associated websites (collectively, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy complies with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area, and applicable data protection laws in the regions where we operate.

1. Information We Collect
a. Information You Provide Directly
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and display name. Authentication is handled via Microsoft Entra External ID, and we do not store your password directly.
- Preferences: Your selected news categories, preferred languages, preferred countries/regions, preferred voice, playback speed, auto-play settings, and notification preferences.
- Payment Information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details, only subscription metadata.
- Playlists: Names and article selections you save.
- Support Communications: Information you provide when contacting support.
b. Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: Listening history, playback progress, saved articles, searches, time spent.
- Device Information: Device type, OS, identifiers, network info.
- Push Notification Tokens: FCM token for notifications.
- Ad Interaction Data: Impressions, skips, completions (Free users only).
- Log Data: IP, timestamps, screens viewed, crashes, diagnostics.
- Location Data: Approximate region via IP and preferences (no GPS).
c. Information from Third-Party Sources
- News Content: Articles from NewsAPI.org (cached temporarily).
- Authentication Provider: Microsoft Entra External ID.
d. Sensitive Information
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide Services: Convert news into audio, deliver feeds, enable playback.
- Personalization: Customize Top Stories, Latest, Trending.
- Subscriptions: Manage payments and premium access via Stripe.
- Advertising: Serve ads for free users.
- Notifications: Send updates and daily highlights.
- Playlists: Enable saving and managing content.
- Analytics: Improve app performance and features.
- Security: Prevent fraud and unauthorized access.
- Legal Compliance: Meet regulatory requirements.
3. Audio Content and Text-to-Speech
We use ElevenLabs to convert text into audio. Only article text is sent for processing. Audio files are stored in Microsoft Azure and delivered to users. No personal data is shared with ElevenLabs.

Free Tier Users
Audio and display ads are shown. Interaction data is collected.
Premium Tier Users
No ads are shown.
Ad Personalization
Ads are not personalized. No personal data is sold.
5. Sharing Your Information
We may share data with:

We never sell your personal data.
6. Guest Access
Guest users can use limited features without an account. No personalization or syncing is available.
7. Data Retention
- Account data: Until deletion
- Playback history: 12 months
- Notification logs: 2 days
- Cached articles: 24 hours
- Audio files: Stored for performance
- Ad analytics: 12 months
- Payment records: As required by law
Data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days after account deletion.
